What to expect
Meet at the Nakabashi Bridge
The vermillion coloured Nakabashi Bridge is one of the main sights of Takayama and connects the main square with the old town quarter. Meet your group for the evening here.
Start the tour at Sanmachi Suji
This quaint district located in Takayama is dubbed ‘Little Kyoto’ for its historic and picturesque appeal that’s reminiscent of Gion, Kyoto’s most famous geisha district that is still known today for retaining its old world appeal.
Venture through Kamininomachi
Lined with traditional buildings and houses featuring wooden doors, latticed windows, and grey stone walls. A stroll on its nooks and crannies definitely gives the feel of being transported back to the Edo Period.
Asahimachi: the modern side of Takayama
Crossing Miyagawa River, the guide leads you to the more modern neighborhoods of Takayama. Walk through some of the small alleys and shopping arcades, before arriving at a local restaurant in the area.
